Acne Blemish Control Treating Moderate Acne

If your acne is worse than the odd spot but better than deep cysts or nodules, then you probably have moderate acne. Acne blemish control is the goal of any acne treatment. For this type of acne there are many ways to achieve this, from using laser and clear light technology to topical lotions and creams. Topical Remedies

Topical lotions and creams make effective acne blemish controls for moderate acne. The most common ingredient used is probably benzoyl peroxide. This is an exposed acne treatment in that it exfoliates away the top layer of skin, and then kills the exposed acne bacteria. Over-the-counter strengths of up to 10 per cent are available but stronger products have to be prescribed by a doctor or health professional. Keep in mind, that the stronger the concentration, the more likely it is to irritate your skin. Dry skin is a common problem. Azelaic acid is another ingredient sometimes used and topical antibiotics and/or a topical retinoid may be prescribed as well for moderate to severe acne. Acne control for severe acne will be seen as urgent, so faster acting treatments may be prescribed too.

Multiple treatments are usually necessary, which can be expensive. Plus, theres nothing to stop acne returning.
